The prestigious CUE competition, which runs under the slogan ‘ideas take flight’, reached a peak number of applications this year and was open to startups with innovative ideas in the ‘Software’, ‘Social Enterprise’ and ‘Science and Technology’ categories. Shortlisted startups pitched to a jury of entrepreneurs and investors, three were selected from each category to present their businesses at the CUE Grand Final. Following the presentations, RightsDD was announced as the winner of the software category, sponsored by Cambridge success story GeoSpock.

RightsDD won the software award for its unique modern slavery due diligence platform; which enables companies to identify, assess, remedy and report on modern slavery risks in their operations and supply chains.

Botty Dimanov, President of Cambridge University Entrepreneurs, commented: “RightsDD was unanimously agreed by the judging panel to have the right combination of a problem with great social importance, evidence of market validation, product traction and an outstanding team to execute their ambitious plan to put an end to modern slavery.”

“We are incredibly pleased to win the Cambridge University Entrepreneurs' competition, especially given the calibre of the competition. The award recognises the potential RightsDD has to empower companies to tackle modern slavery in supply chains- a practice that has 16 million victims today.”  Said Oliver Cushing, CEO, RightsDD.
